SYNOPSIS
Isolated thundershowers are likely over the Cayman area during the next 24 hours.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida is issuing advisories on newly formed Tropical Storm Hermine, which at 4 a.m. was located near 21.6 N 95.0 W or 190 miles east-southeast of Tampico, Mexico. Hermine is moving north at 8 mph with maximum sustained winds near 40 mph.
THIS STORM POSES NO IMMEDIATE THREAT TO THE CAYMAN ISLANDS.
THE FORECAST
Today: Partly cloudy skies with a 20% chance of isolated afternoon showers and possible thunder, mainly over Grand Cayman. Temperatures will rise to the low 90’s with a heat index of 113 F. Winds will be east to southeast 5 to 10 knots. Seas will be slight with wave heights of 1 to 3 feet.
Tonight: Partly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of isolated showers and some thunder, especially over the Sister Islands. Temperatures will fall to the upper 70’s. Winds will be east to southeast 5 knots or less. Seas will be smooth with wave heights of less than 2 feet.
