Nestled in the calm, turquoise waters of the northwestern Caribbean lies the peaceful British Overseas Territory known as the Cayman Islands. Consisting of three islands just 480 miles south of Miami, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. Grand Cayman is by far the biggest, with an area of 76 square miles. The two "Sister Islands" of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are located about 80 miles east of Grand Cayman and have areas of 14 square miles and 10 square miles respectively. The capital George Town, on Grand Cayman is located near latitude 19° 30N, longitude 80° 30W. 

The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida is issuing advisories on Hurricane Earl and Tropical Storm Fiona.

At 4 a.m.

Hurricane Earl was located near 35.3 N 74.0 W or about 465 miles south-southwest of Nantucket, Massachusetts. Earl is moving north to northeast near 18 mph with max sustained winds near 105 mph.

Tropical Storm Fiona was located near 28.1 N 66.7 W or about 310 miles south-southwest of Bermuda. Fiona is moving north near 13 mph with max sustained winds near 50 mph.

THESE STORMS POSE NO IMMEDIATE THREAT TO THE CAYMAN ISLANDS.

Isolated thundershowers are likely over the Cayman Islands in association with a weak upper level trough over Jamaica. The trough will weaken tonight.
